Ecofascism Has Wrecked The Global Warming Movement

The climate scare is collapsing as taxpayers and investors realize that shackling the economy with taxes, regulations, and unaffordable subsidies is economic suicide. The messianic doomsayers have overplayed their hand, and opened up their junk science to ridicule.

Temperatures have barely changed in decades, the polar ice masses are growing, sea levels are dropping, and hurricane activity is at its lowest in the 30-year satellite record. Even the polar bears and penguins turn out to be thriving.

But then, anthropogenic global warming was never really about science. All along it has been a means to advance a socialist agenda: supranationalism, redistribution of resources, a bigger role for the state, and so on. A new socialist elite wants to boss us around, unrestricted by any notion of democracy, as James Delingpole explains in his book, Watermelons: How Environmentalists are Killing the Planet, Destroying the Economy and Stealing your Children’s Future.

At its most extreme, this desire to control people’s lives does little to hide its ecofascistic roots. World government, enforced by an International Climate Court, is the ultimate objective; which is why the lunatics and misanthropes at the UN continue to advocate deindustrialization – in the West – by forcing carbon quotas on industrialized nations.

This still appears to be the direction of travel, at a national level. In the US, the Environmental Protection Agency is using threats and intimidation to force energy companies to submit to an extremist agenda: wiping out the fossil fuel industry.

The Department of Homeland Security has announced that “environmental justice” units will be empowered to oversee regulations throughout the US. These “green police” officers are to work with eleven federal government agencies, including the TSA and the Secret Service. Similarly, in the EU, there are plans afoot to create a carbon big brother – in the form of a satellite to monitor greenhouse gas emissions.

Fortunately, change is in the air. Scientists are distancing themselves from the alarmists at a growing rate, the science having been thoroughly discredited after the climategate emails lifted the lid on the intellectual and scientific fraud behind the so called ‘consensus’. A figurehead of the ecological movement, James Lovelock, author of the Gaia theory, is the latest alarmist to admit that he was wrong. Meanwhile, scientists like Professor Henrik Svensmark, are rewriting climate science as evidence that solar activity is the primary driver of climate, on timescales ranging from hours to millions of years, continues to accumulate.

The AGW industry, which has hundreds of billions of dollars at stake, will no doubt defend its interests tooth and nail. Climate scientists, carbon traders, renewable energy investors, insurance and reinsurance companies, ethical fund managers, environment correspondents, environment officers, electric car manufacturers, wind farm engineers and green politicians, will all fight to keep this boondoggle going.

But the environmental movement’s biggest problem is that it is at odds with itself. Grass roots environmentalists tend to be the kind of people who support the Occupy movement. But they are unwittingly helping big banks like Goldman Sachs, which bankrolled Obama’s 2008 campaign in return for cap-and-trade, as Matt Taibbi reported in his famous article on the bank, The Great American Bubble Machine:

“Instead of simply imposing a fixed government levy on carbon pollution and forcing unclean energy producers to pay for the mess they make, cap-and-trade will allow a small tribe of greedy-as-hell Wall Street swine to turn yet another commodities market into a private tax collection scheme. This is worse than the bailout: It allows the bank to seize taxpayer money before it’s even collected.”

Green economics is becoming a surefire vote loser. The banks may want to pose as good corporate citizens, but citizens in the West have twigged that carbon trading profits are naturally at their own expense. Nowhere is this better demonstrated than in Australia, where the eco-loon Gillard government is leading the Labour party to extinction.

In an age of austerity, governments are realizing that decarbonising the global economy would be a monstrous misallocation of resources. This is why wasteful Big-Environmentalist-Government could turn out to be Obama’s downfall, and why there is zero chance of any international climate treaty ever being signed.
